Osteopathy in Pregnancy.

Antenatal Osteopathy.

As your pregnancy develops the demands placed upon your body are huge. Pregnancy is the single biggest physical transformation your body can ever undergo, from the enlargement of the breasts to the swelling of the uterus.

As your body shape changes so does your posture. The increased pressure on your spine, combined with any previous trauma can create pain and discomfort.

Osteopathy can help during your pregnancy by supporting your spine and pelvis and by balancing your soft tissues.

Issues such as Symphysis Pubis Dsfunction (SPD) and Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) are fairly common in pregnancy and yet many people do not realise that they indicate imbalance between the bony and muscular structures.

Thoracic and shoulder pain are also common complaints through pregnancy, largely due to a combination of increasing breast size and altering posture.

Having an unbalanced muscular and skeletal system can also have an effect on how your baby is positioned for birth.

I work by combining structural and cranial Osteopathy alongside other techniques such as Rebozo o help gently encourage your baby into the most optimal position for birth.
